Systemic Model
Colon Ascendens Stent Peritonitis (CASP) Model
A continuous-leakage polymicrobial peritonitis and sepsis model for severe systemic infection.
The colon ascendens stent peritonitis (CASP) model produces polymicrobial sepsis through a continuous leakage of intestinal flora into the peritoneal cavity, driven by a surgically placed stent. It generates a reproducible, progressive systemic infection that closely mirrors the clinical course of abdominal sepsis.
CASP complements cecal ligation approaches, giving programs a second, mechanistically distinct route to severe polymicrobial infection.
Applications
- Progressive polymicrobial sepsis challenge
- Abdominal-source systemic infection
- Survival and physiological endpoints
- Host-response and combination-therapy evaluation
Customized to your program
Like all of our in vivo work, this model is tailored to your compound, route of administration, dosing regimen, and the specific endpoints your program requires. We will work with you to design a study that answers your scientific questions and stands up to regulatory scrutiny.
