In Vitro Assay

Time-Kill Kinetics Assay

How quickly and how completely your compound reduces a microbial population over time — the shape of the kill.

A time-kill kinetics assay measures the rate and extent of antimicrobial activity over time, revealing how quickly and how completely a compound reduces a microbial population. By sampling at defined intervals, we generate kill curves that characterize the dynamics of activity.

These data distinguish concentration-dependent from time-dependent killing — a fundamental input for rational dosing strategy and a valuable complement to static MIC and MBC endpoints.

Methodology

  • Viable counts at defined time intervals
  • Multiple compound concentrations
  • Kill-curve generation
  • Concentration- vs time-dependent characterization

Applications

  • Characterizing the rate and extent of kill
  • Informing dosing strategy (concentration- vs time-dependent)
  • Comparing candidates beyond a single MIC value
  • Supporting PK/PD study design
