Skin & Wound Model
Abscess Model
Localized abscess models for evaluating antimicrobial activity against contained, purulent infection.
Abscesses present a distinct therapeutic challenge: a walled-off, purulent focus of infection that many antimicrobials struggle to penetrate. Our abscess models establish a contained infection to evaluate how effectively a compound reduces bacterial burden within this difficult microenvironment.
These models are frequently used for compounds targeting Staphylococcus aureus, including MRSA, a leading cause of skin and soft-tissue abscesses.
Applications
- Efficacy against contained, purulent infection
- MRSA and S. aureus abscess challenge
- Evaluation of compound penetration into abscess
- Bacterial-burden and lesion endpoints
Customized to your program
Like all of our in vivo work, this model is tailored to your compound, route of administration, dosing regimen, and the specific endpoints your program requires. We will work with you to design a study that answers your scientific questions and stands up to regulatory scrutiny.
